Ezra Bridger is an orphan on Lothal, an Outer Rim world. He interferes with the theft of blaster rifles from the Empire by Ghost crew members Kanan Jarrus, Sabine Wren and Garazeb "Zeb" Orrelios . Ezra ends up stuck with the crew while making their getaway and also meets Captain Hera Syndulla and C1 astromech droid Chopper. Ezra finds a lightsaber and a holocron in Kanan's room and steals the holocron. The rifles are sold to buy food and information from black market dealer and crime lord Cikatro Vizago. The food is given to the displaced people of Lothal while the information leads the to the location of several Wookiees captured by the Empire. However this is a trap and Ezra is captured by Agent Kallus. Ezra somehow opens the holocron and sees a message from Obi Wan Kenobi. Ezra is saved by the Ghost crew after learning where the Wookiees have been sent. During the rescue of the Wookiees Kanan draws his lightsaber, revealing himself as a Jedi, and together with the Wookiees defeat Agent Kallus and the troopers and escape. Having proven himself by opening the holocron Kanan offers to make Ezra his apprentice. Agent Kallus informs an Inquisitor he has located a Jedi.

The rebels intercept a shipment of weapons intended for the Empire and accidentally end up hosting a pair of droids.

With Ezra and Zeb arguing constantly, a simple errand to the market goes astray when they get in a tussle with stormtroopers and manage to steal a TIE fighter.

The Rebels learn that old Jedi Master Luminara Unduli is being held captive in the Stittgen system. They get to her only to realize that they have fallen into a trap set by the Inquisitor.

The Rebels send Ezra on an undercover mission into the Imperial Academy to steal a decoder. When a couple newly made academy friends are put in danger by an edict of the Emperor, Ezra attempts to escape from the Academy with them.

While on a supply run, Hera and Sabine find themselves stranded but not alone in a seemingly abandoned locale.

Ezra struggles with unanswered questions from the past on Empire Day -- his birthday -- while the Ghost crew uncovers key Imperial intel. A refugee of the Empire seeks help from the Rebels to get off the planet with important Imperial information.

To protect an Imperial deserter, Kanan & Ezra attempt to distract the pursuing Imperial forces, resulting in a confrontation.
