DEATH: http://trove.nla.gov.au - (search on James Pollitt 1866)
A number of articles appeared in the Perth newspapers following his death. Apparently he died from intoxication. None of the ministers of the cemeteries would admit him or perform a service over him. His religion was unknown and his lifestyle was questionable, so they didn't want him buried in their part of the cemetery. It raised many questions over the fate of paupers like James or members of religions not part of the mainstream.
....
Occupation:
At his death, one newspaper says he was a butcher, another that he had been working as a shepherd at Nicol Bay and Roebuck Bay.

O'NEIL. '97In remembrance of our loved mother (Jane), who died on October 19th, 1935. All tears are vain, we cannot now recall thee, Gone is thy cheerful smile and loving face; Gone from the home where we so dearly loved thee, Where none can ever fill thy vacant place.
